Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition characterized by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel bone to the toes. This condition often causes sharp heel pain, particularly with the first steps in the morning or after prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Risk factors include obesity, high-impact sports, inappropriate footwear, and occupations that require long periods of standing. Treatment typically involves rest, stretching exercises, orthotics, and physical therapy to strengthen the foot and improve flexibility.
