Traumatic Injuries

These injuries can vary widely in severity and type, and they typically require immediate medical attention and subsequent rehabilitation to promote recovery and return to work.

Traumatic injuries may include:

Fractures: Broken bones caused by falls, impacts, or collisions.
Sprains and Strains: Injuries to ligaments (sprains) or muscles and tendons (strains) often resulting from overexertion, awkward movements, or falls.
Dislocations: Joints becoming displaced due to sudden force or impact.
Contusions: Bruising resulting from direct trauma to the body.
Lacerations: Cuts or tears in the skin or other tissues, often caused by sharp objects or machinery.
Concussions: Brain injuries caused by impacts to the head or body that lead to shaking of the brain within the skull.
Burns: Injuries caused by heat, chemicals, or electrical sources.
Repetitive Motion Injuries: Although not always classified as traumatic in the traditional sense, these injuries arise from repetitive actions that cause stress on muscles, tendons, and nerves over time (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome).
Physical therapy plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of traumatic injuries by focusing on restoring strength, mobility, and function, as well as addressing pain management and preventing future injuries. Treatment plans may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, modalities (such as heat or ice), and education on proper body mechanics and ergonomics to support a safe return to work.
